WHO IS HUNTING PARK WARRIORS YOUTH DEVELOPMENT?
Treating Violence as a Public Health Epidemic
At Hunting Park Youth Development (HPYD), we believe that violence should be addressed as a public health epidemic, with prevention as our primary goal. Our approach focuses on fostering cultural shifts that prioritize hope over despair, promoting a positive outlook for our youth and those who support them. By providing mentoring programs and sports activities, HPYD builds trusting relationships between youth and adult volunteers, guiding them towards positive life choices. Continuous positive reinforcement from mentors helps young people develop a strong sense of self-worth.
Celebrating Over 25 Years of Service
This year marks more than 25 years since HPYD’s inception. Today, we are a recognized nonprofit organization serving over 100 youth aged 8-18, supported by 10 dedicated adult volunteers in Philadelphia and neighboring communities. Since our establishment, HPYD has offered a range of programs, including school support, visitation, tutorials, and recreational activities, which have spurred academic and social achievements among our youth participants. |  |
Providing a Robust Support System
HPYD offers a robust support system for disadvantaged youth, providing an alternative to the negative influences and lack of support they often face. We aim to demonstrate alternative pathways beyond crime and substance abuse, working tirelessly to enhance the quality of life for urban youth. Through dedication, consistency, and unwavering support, HPYD empowers youth by expanding their access to educational, athletic, and mentoring opportunities.

Our initiatives encompass specific programs designed to foster safe and supportive learning environments. Here are some highlights:
 | School Support and Visitation Programs: We emphasize the importance of education by addressing challenges faced by many youth in attaining basic learning skills necessary for higher education. After-School Tutoring Services: These services enhance students' academic skills and prepare them for further studies. Athletic Competitions: Through sports, we facilitate the development of interpersonal skills, behavioral modification, and strategic planning, contributing to the personal growth and maturity of our participants. |
